Individual Therapy
One-on-one therapy for people recovering from religion, cults and high-control groups, at your pace, with someone who gets it.
Maybe you’ve just left, maybe you’re years out, or maybe you’re still in and quietly wondering. Wherever you’re at is a fine place to start.
Where you might be at
Still in and questioning - You’re still showing up but your doubts are getting louder, and you can’t say them out loud to anyone there yet.
Recently left - You’re out, and everything feels new and a bit scary. You’re working out what you believe, who your people are and what your days look like now.
Years out - You left a long time ago and thought you’d moved on. Then a song, a smell or a phrase brings it all back.
Sound Familiar?
You feel like you’re starting your adult life years behind everyone else
You’re queer and you were told it was something to pray away
You still hear a sermon in your head when you make a decision for yourself
Your body, desire or pleasure still feel off limits after purity culture
You lost family, friends or a whole community when you left
You’ve been told to “just pray more” one too many times
You’re tired of always being on high alert and don’t know why it hasn’t stopped
What we can work on
Religious trauma and spiritual abuse. Making sense of what happened, including the parts you were told were for your own good.
Cults and high-control groups. Recovering from any group that controlled how you thought, felt and lived. That includes wellness communities, yoga and meditation groups, political movements, multi-level marketing and some self-development programs.
Queer identity after religion. Recovering from being told who you are was a sin, and building a life that fits you.
Purity culture and your body. Feeling at home in your body, and getting comfortable with desire and pleasure, on your own timeline.
Grief, guilt and shame. For the community, certainty and relationships you lost when you left, and the guilt that hangs around even when you know better.
Family and community fallout. Working out what contact you want with family and friends who are still in the church or group, and what boundaries you need.
Conversion practices. Recovering from attempts to change or suppress your sexuality or gender, whether they happened in a church, a counselling room or your own family.

The Details
Session length. 50 minutes.
Fee. $170 + GST per 50-minute session. GST only applies to clients in Australia. *Fee increase January 1st 2027
How often. Same day and time fortnightly.
Where. In person in Goulburn, or online anywhere in Australia and New Zealand.
Medicare. I don’t accept Mental Health Care Plans.
What The Session’s Are Like
There’s no script, and no homework that is mandatory. Some sessions we’ll talk. Some we’ll use grounding exercises, Brainspotting or parts work and reflection. You might cry, rage or laugh, and all of that is welcome.
We go at a pace that suits you. You don’t have to share anything before you’re ready, and you can always ask why we’re doing something or say no to it.
A lot of what comes up is grief for the community you lost, anger about what was done to you, and the strange mix of relief and fear that comes with being free to choose for yourself.
